Asiago Plateau - San Gaetano Experience

Places and Activities

Where San Gaetano Medical Center is located

Poliambulatori San Gaetano is located in the Vicenza piedmont area, in a favorable location at the foot of the Asiago Plateau and at the outlet of the Astico Valley, served by the A31 highway, closed to Venice airport.

Our locations enjoy the convenience of being in an urban area rich in services but, at the same time, a “stone’s throw” from areas of naturalistic interest and cities of art.
Therefore, it is possible to visit wonderful cities such as Venice or Verona, hike among mountain trails or take a trip to Lake Garda, all in itineraries organized according to the person’s preferences and eventual needs, including medical ones.

The San Gaetano Experience was also created to offer patients a service that can enrich their emotional baggage.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES TO VISIT IN VENETO

Thiene

The city that saw the birth of Poliambulatori San Gaetano.
Thiene has Roman origins, confirmed by some archaeological finds – recently unearthed – of a rustic building that prove its existence as early as the 2nd century AD. However, the first written document in which the town’s name appears dates back to the Middle Ages (1152). In 1166 it became a free commune, only to be occupied in succession by the ruling families of the Ezzelini, Scaligeri, and Visconti.
There are buildings of architectural and historical value, such as the Cathedral or the Church of San Vincenzo.

The city became an important commercial center between the plain and the plateau.
From the mid-1800s, Thiene also became an important industrial center, especially in the textile industry, spinning mills, hat factories, and shoe factories.

Thiene has always been a first-rate commercial center and landmark of great importance in the upper Vicenza area.

Vicenza

A provincial capital, it is the city to which the urban area in which Poliambulatori San Gaetano operates refers.

Known for the elegant buildings designed by 16th-century architect Andrea Palladio. Among his must-see works are the Teatro Olimpico, the Basilica Palladiana and the Palazzo Chiericati. Also worth a visit is the famous “Villa La Rotonda,” located in the hilly area just outside the city.

Monte Berico deserves a visit, where, at the end of a flight of steps, is the shrine of the same name dedicated to Our Lady, a place of worship for Catholics, which can also give wonderful views to those who go there for the pure love of beauty.

Bassano del Grappa

A wonderful city located at the foot of the Venetian Alps, where it is possible to breathe historical memory and find art and food and wine.
Its history has developed along the course of the Brenta River, which runs through the historic center: the two banks are joined by the characteristic Ponte Vecchio, symbol of the city.
The bridge, which witnessed the departure of soldiers to the front on the Asiago Plateau during World War I, has been declared a national monument and is a tourist attraction with great appeal.

Bassano del Grappa is a city rich in sights, teeming squares and historic buildings. You can breathe a romantic air in a lively center full of food and wine offerings.
It is possible, in fact, to taste the famous “Grappa,” a distillate obtained from the vine, flavored in different fragrant variants.

The city today is a lively center that combines architecture, culture and modernity.

The “city of love,” made famous by William Shakespeare’s play “Romeo and Juliet,” is home to the famous 16th-century balcony from which the girl is said to have looked out.
Verona is also much more…

Its medieval city center, built along a bend in the Adige River, offers wonderful views; the city, however, boasts much older origins, as evidenced by the Arena di Verona, the great 1st-century Omani amphitheater in which concerts and operas are still held.
Piazza Bra, Piazza dei Signori, Piazza delle Erbe and Porta dei Leoni are just a few of the buildings worth visiting.

Walking through the streets of Verona, enjoying the wonderful view from the various vantage points that dominate the city, among them that of Castel San Pietro, give an exciting experience that is not to be forgotten.
